Reigning WBA World Cruiserweight Champion Denis Lebedev
will have home backing from the Moscow crowd as he looks to defend his World
strap.
0-year-old Guillermo Jones, who turns 41 a week before
the fight, stands in his way, himself a former WBA Cruiserweight Champ and
looking to regain the belt he previously vacated.
Jones was stripped of the title by the WBA after fighting
only twice in four years as Champion, and twice refusing to face Lebedev. The
WBA finally stepped in and installed Lebedev as their full belt holder, but now
we're set to see the title decided where it should be: in the ring.
Lebedev will enter the ring with a 24 - 1 record, while
Jones is 38 - 3 - 2 into this one. Both men have KO percentages around 70%.
The Russian reigning Champ has never been stopped,
however, while Panamanian Jones was KO'd by David Noel 15 years ago.
